Jane Austen's 'Pride and Prejudice' gets a lively seaside treatment in 'Prawn and Prejudice' which is set in the very pretty, fashionable coastal town of Salcombe, Devon during Town Regatta Week - the perfect place for a modern Elizabeth Bennet to met a young Mr.Darcy.

Chapter for chapter 'Prawn and Prejudice' follows the original but ballgowns are replaced by bikinis and ballrooms by beaches. Darcy glides into the harbour in his luxury yacht, the 62ft 'Pemberley', Bingley hires the fabulous seaside villa 'Netherpollock' and Lady Catherine de Bourgh becomes Lady Catherine de Brrrr residing at 'Rosings on the Rocks'. Plenty of frolicking about in the sea by our favourite Austen characters make 'Prawn and Prejudice' a hilarious read and as for Darcy and Elizabeth - their relationship turns out to be, literally, a real cliff hanger!

A wonderful read - inspiring, intelligent and quite hilarious.
... hugely entertaining and a very clever skit on Jane Austen's masterpiece. It made me laugh out loud many times and Belinda Roberts' portrayal of a modern-day Mr Collins will stay with me for some time to come.
